The cerium doped lutetium yttrium oxyortho silicate (Ce∶LYSO) crystals were grown by the Czochralski method. The temperature field was designed according to the mechanisms of crystal crack and super cooling, and optimized by experiments. Then the large size of 60 mm×280 mm Ce∶LYSO crystal was realized. The Ce∶LYSO crystals with different cerium concentrations were grown, and the congruent cerium doped concentration was demonstrated by the scintillation properties measurement. The effects of different protection gases on the crystal performance were also discussed. The result showed that when the Ce concentration was 0.15%, Ce∶LYSO had the best light output with no obvious defects. The mode of using N2 flow after vaccumizing was helpful for crystal transmittance improvement, but having less influence on light output.
