In order to meet the requirements of small size and high torque piezoelectric motor for precision instruments applications, a new type of low frequency piezoelectricmotor is designed in this paper. The proposed piezoelectric motor has the features of costeffectiveness, low frequency power drive and wider application over high frequency piezoelectricmotor. The driven mechanism of the motor was studied and the dynamic model of the driving structure was established. A prototype was fabricated and tested. The effect of input frequency on output torque and speed were carried out. The tests showed that the new type of low frequency piezoelectricmotor has best operating performance at 290 Hz.
